Band of Brothers

This holiday, me and my brother have sat and watched all of Band of Brothers. I love it, and if you haven't seen it, I think you should, even if you don't normally like WWII films!

A great quiz!

Boredom strikes again. So take my quiz and see how you do.

Tess!

Me and ma bro had a great time walking Tess through the snow this afternoon.

But when we got home she thought it would be hilarious to roll all over the grass and coat herself in snow before we went in the house. Yes Tess, very funny.

Special Christmas Present

My neighbours have made my christmas wish come (semi) true! They've gone away for 2 days so I get to look after my neighbour's dog calledTess. Yay!

She's quite old now, but I can remember when I used to go to their house when they still lived on the end of my street, as opposed to next door to me, for my violin lessons, when I was 7 years old. She used to get really excited and jump around at me, but when I saw her yesterday she kept coming to me for a stroke, but didn't get too excited, and then she fell asleep on my feet! Guess that's what come of being an old lady I suppose...

I can't believe how long it is since I've been in their house. Me and Robin, her son, used to be really good friends when we were little, but because we both went to boarding school we didn't spek for ages. And even now that they've moved next door we never see each other because of how our houses are set out and because we're inside most of the time. It's pretty silly because I think we'd get on quite well. Yesterday was the first time I'd spoken to him in about 3 years. Stupid isn't it?? Oh well.

I'll take the camera when we go out for a walk this afternoon and get some pictures. It's been snowing too so it'll be a bit more exciting than usual!

But first, SHOPPING! woo hoo

Merry Christmas!

NARNIA!

I know I went to see it a while ago, but I haven't written about it on here yet even thoug I promised I would.

I really enjoyed it, hence going twice to see it! It was a bit cheesy in places (which isn't a bad thing!!!) and was also quite funny too in parts. But, I think the White Witch wasn't nearly scary enough and was quite disappointed that there wasn't more blood (yes yes I know it's a kids film so they can't, but it just makes it so much more realistic!). But other than that it was, as Tony the Tiger says, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeaat!!

I could actually watch it again. I hope they do the others and that they're good. hmmmm

If you want to see more really good pictures click here.

The coolest thing EVER in a million years!

I've just spoken to Tom on msn and he asked me to guess what score he got when he went bowling. 2 thing about this are amazing: a) the number of strikes that he got, and b) how awesome I am at guessing. Here's the whole conversation....

This is what I really want for christmas...

This is my real christmas list. I want....

A Westie puppy....
A little bunny rabbit....
A ginger kitten.....
A hamster.....
.... and Oscar, Jonnys cat. I think he might be upset if I stole him though, so I'll be satisfied with looking after and playing with him for a while...

You know, I just got these pictures, apart from the last one obviously, off the Internet and said Awwww!!! really loud, forgetting that I'm surrounded by people. Now I look like a complete weirdo...

Norfolk Park Christmas Cracker!

Here's a few pictures of me and my housemates at the Norfolk Park christmas party. As you can see, we're all very silly. But that's nothing new, I'm sure.

It's oh so quiet! Shh! Shh!!

Well I’m all alone now. It’s quite sad really; being in such a quiet house makes me miss all my friends even more.

I’ve been lying on my bed in the dark, eating chocolate, listening to Damien Rice and looking at the moon. I feel so relaxed, I could go to sleep even though it’s still early. I shouldn’t though, or I’ll wake up early tomorrow and won’t have anything to keep me occupied. Somehow I find it easier to fill the time in the evening, so I might as well stay awake for a while and just sleep longer in the morning.

If you haven’t listened to this song before, then you should get it. I love it. Cannonball is also a great song.

The Blower’s Daughter – Damien Rice
And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is
The shorter story
no love, no glory
No hero in her sky

I can’t take my eyes off of you
I can’t take my eyes off of you
I can’t take my eyes off of you
I can’t take my eyes off of you
I can’t take my eyes off of you
I can’t take my eyes

And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We’ll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
And so it is
The colder water
The blower’s daughter
The pupil in denial

I can’t take my eyes off of you
I can’t take my eyes off of you
I can’t take my eyes off of you
I can’t take my eyes off of you
I can’t take my eyes off of you
I can’t take my eyes

Oooh did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?

I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off of you
I can’t take my mind off of you
I can’t take my mind off of you
I can’t take my mind off of you
I can’t take my mind
My mind, my mind'Till I find somebody new

Whatever shall I do???

I have now officially finished for my Christmas holiday. But I'm not flying home until Monday.....

My entertainment (Jonny and Faye) are leaving me today so I'm going to be alone all evening and all day tomorrow! (ok so it might not seem that bad but i spend EVERY night at their house, often until about 3 in the morning - it's going to hard coping without them). But I suppose I might be ok. I could do some work and I need to tidy up and pack. It's Jess' birthday on sunday so it's her party on saturday night which will be good fun. To delay boredom further, I've decided to visit my little sister (hehe, did you get that? I don't have a little sister, just an older one that is literally little...) in Leeds on sunday. I'll stay there the night and then travel to Manchester airport together on monday morning. woot woot

But, Oh, what joy is mine! I shalst be as bored as a biscuit crumb (cause, to be honest, what fun do they ever have??) from this very night onwards for a whole 24 hours! I copeth not too well when I am unfortunate enough not haveth my dear friends for entertainment. What shalst I do? If I were to do some work, I shouldst be even more upset througheth mineth boredom.... eth....

Enough of the weird language.... I'll go now... ciao for now Squirrels!

Toodle pip!

Christmas Shopping

I went to Meadowhall today (uni lasted for a total of 20 minutes, so me and jess took advantage of it and got there early!) but only bought one thing. RUBBISH. So when I got back to Sheffield I decided to pop into town and bought loads of stuff all in about 10 minutes. I realised that I started to get slightly carried away so decided to stop (i.e. stopped myself from buying a present from me to myself, which was a big shame. Maybe another day....).

I was trying to count up what I spent (I've been using my card, so haven't really kept track) and thought 'hmmm maybe it's a good idea if I stop now' and then remembered that I haven't actually paid for any of my main presents for my family (minus one) yet. Oops. Oh well, I guess I don't spend that much money the rest of the time, so one shopping spree is allowed, right? And anyway, none of it is for me, so that makes it ok too. I'm just too generous, that's my problem. hehe

Still stuck on brilliant ideas of what to buy me for christmas?? Here's a few tips:
- beautiful, lovely, pretty earrings
- somewhere that I can keep my beautiful, lovely, pretty earrings
- ultimate disney cd (yes I know I'm sad, there's no need to tell me)
- some kind of music player type thing (like an mp3 or something (not a rubbis one, I want one that holds A LOT), or if you're feeling extra nice, an ipod)
- choclate (tip: welcome all year round at Chez Beaky)
- a nice belt
- a new bag. Actually, 2 new bags. One bigger one for carrying stuff to uni in, and one smaller, general one
- a dog. Too ambitious?? hmmm. Possibly.
- ok, a hamster then. That's smaller and easier to look after...... Is asking for 2 hamsters pushing it? Or how about a cat? ..... Yes, I'm definitely pushing it now.
- a guitar
- knee-high stripy socks. Because you can never have too many.
- Phil collins CD............ What?? ................ There's nothing wrong with that!

If you've already got me my present, then don't worry, I'll accept and like anything that you give me. If you still feel bad that you haven't got what's on my list, then just get me one of them as well. Getting 2 presents is perfectly ok by me. Hey whatever! Go all out! Get me 3 presents!! I wont complain! Or 4, or 5, or 6............

The smallest things make me excited......

For example this. There's a nice exhibition thing int he university reception with lots of wonderful pictures, I could stand and look at them for hours. I think it's a bit late to change my degree to architecture though, isn't it??

And it's a shame I'll have left Sheffield by the time it's all finished. I'll have to come back just so I can see it all done. Yay. Ooh and you never know, mine and Faye's super master plan that we just dreamt up (*wink, wink, nudge nudge*) might be great!! haha

In other news...

I really need to get some credit on my phone. I haven't had any for weeks and it's just getting ridiculous!

I used to wonder....

..... where I got my silliness from, but now it's certain that I got it from my mum. I even have evidence for you. It's from an email that she sent me today.

Exhibit A

'Daddy is getting more concerned about the snow that's forecast to start on Friday and not stop. I have to have a contingency plan to get you all home. Hope you've got some good shoes and a map!'

haha very funny (just so you know, it takes 2 1/2 hours to drive, nevermind walk!)

Exhibit B

'Lots of love,
Mama xxxx**xxxx***xx***xxxxxxxxxxx***xx*x*xx***(kisses in the snow!)'

Yes, yes I know it's very nice, but you have to admit, very silly too. hehe

*sigh*
I love my mummy.

Thing you didn't know about me #17

(I think we're on number 17 anyway...)

My span of concentration lasts for 40-45 minutes. Once it gets past that time I start staring out of the window thinking random thoughts. 9 times out of 10 my thought trail leads to food - well there's a surprise for you!

Usually, (actually it depends on the degree of boredom) it takes me about 10 or 15 minutes to be able to sit down again and work, but seeing as I am in the library now, I don't have anyone that I can go and talk to and annoy, so I've been sat at the computer doing pretty much nothing in my break. I still feel bored of doing that work, even though I stopped about 50 minutes ago. tee hee. And oh! What luck! It's time to go.....

Wish me luck in my presentation!

Christmas is here!!

Well, not quite yet, but near enough. Today it is 'Number 77 & 78s Christmas Dinner'. I'm so excited about it (yes yes, I know I don't live in either of those houses, but I'm special so I've been invited). It's going to be so much fun, that I think I might even wear a Santa hat.

I've been so stressed over the last couple of days, but I've handed in one of my reports this morning and I've got my presentation this afternoon, so once that's all completely out of the way I can paaaaaaaaaarty! Woo hoo!

Oooh this dinner is gonna taste so gooooooood!

There's just nothing like it...

There really is nothing like going home so late that the birds are already singing. I've done that the last 2 days, and quite surprisingly, I'm not really tired at all! I don't regret it either, I had a really nice time, because I did something that I haven't done for a long time. I chatted. Well, actually on Saturday night we watched Family Guy the movie, two family guy episodes and charlie and the chocolate factory as well as chatted a little bit, but last night we just chatted (and watched family guy at the same time tee hee). I don't know why I haven't done anything like that for a long time, but I think I've learnt more about Jonny and got to know him better over the last few days than I have done my own housemate over the space of 3 months!

It's got me thinking. I think in life everyone has loads of friends that they really enjoy being with, but there aren't really that many people that you can sit and have a proper conversation with. I mean real conversation. I spend most of my time in pointless conversation with hundreds of different people that doesn't actually mean anything and isn't important, but it's so interesting when you can sit and really get to know a person.

I think this is so true:

If you can tell someone anything without thinking that it might change their opinion of you or that they wold think you were weird, then then they are a true friend. But I think the real decider isn't what happens when you're talking, but in the silences in between. If you know you could both sit for 5 minutes in complete silence and then suddenly start talking again about something completely random and it's not at all awkward throughout, then you can really know that you feel comfortable with that person. Awkward silences are a definite no no. You should never feel like you have to say something to keep it going.

I'm so lucky that I have people that I'm like that with. Christiana is my best friend. Even if we don't speak to each other for 4 months, as soon as we do speak or see each other we pick up where we left off. I find that real friendships don't take much effort to keep up, because time doesn't ever change them. There's no need to constantly stay in touch, because they already know that you love them, there's no need to keep saying it.

Christiana isn't the only one I've got either. There's Michael. And Jess. Jade. Alex. Johnny. I could go on...

I'm so lucky.

Why am I being so soppy today? What's wrong with me?? he he

Ever get that feeling?

Ever get that feeling that you wish you hadn’t told someone that your blog existed because now they read it so you can’t really say whatever you want to on it anymore because they know what or who you’re talking about? There’s something nice about a blog that only strangers read, you’d never be worried about them judging you. You could let out your inner most secrets too, and it wouldn’t matter. The Story of My Life is well and truly public, so I can’t do that anymore. Even worse, not only can everyone see what I’ve written recently, they can dive into my past, to before they know me in person, discovering things about me that I would never expect or want them to know (if there's someone reading this and they know what i mean by 'Spoon', then aaaarrrrggghhh!!!). Hmmm maybe I should make another secret blog where I can tell my secrets to the world. Or maybe I should learn to be less afraid of expressing myself properly to people around me. There are very few people in this world that really know me. If you think you’re one of those who do, you’re probably wrong. Aside from my family, of course. But then, I don’t like that my parents read this either. I don’t know why, it just feels strange, not like they’re spying or anything, just that, I dunno, it’s just weird, that’s all.

We love united, we do!!

I’m sat (yes mum I know you always tell me it’s ‘I am sitting’, but I don’t care) at my computer in my room trying to do some work, and all I can hear is football hooligans chanting in the stadium. They must be extra loud today, I’ve never been able to hear them this far away before! Crazy!

He he I think someone just missed the goal, I heard a big ‘Oooooooh!’

I think it’s Sheffield United against Sheffield Wednesday too, so it could be messy afterwards!

Introducing....

My stalker....

This person has been on my blog about 1 million times since he discoverd it on Monday.

I'm quite worried. Maybe I should run home now and lock myself in my room until it's safe to come out.

Do you have any idea who it is??

What about you, JOEL?? Hm??? Explain yourself!

Uh oh

I think I've got myself a new nickname. Another one to add to the ever growing list. It's not good. I even answered to it a minute ago... oops.

It is......

CHEESE

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

I think it might stick too. (it's from the weekend away, just in case you're a bit slow...)

Oh dear. I thought Beaky was bad...

I'm not even a member of Cheesus either!! What's going on!?!

Introducing.....

FAYE!

Faye is my new wonderful friend at uni. I just thought that she needed to be introduced, because you've met all my other friends in the past but not Faye yet. (actually, I've never properly introduced my best friend, Christiana, which is a bit silly really! I will do sometime in the near future....) I'm afraid I don't have a good picture of her to put on here, so you'll have to make do with imagination for the moment!

Essential Faye Facts:
- she's insane, like me
- she loves pride and prejudice, like me
- she loves hot chocolate, like me
- she is a very bad influence, like me!
