A selection of photos from Holland

To the person that......

.... came to my blog after searching for '“My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.” page number:' I love you and you are very welcome here. But you are also obviously not the most intelligent person in the world. You don't seem to realise that searching for a 'page number' on the Internet is pointless. There will be hundreds of different versions of Pride and Prejudice, and in each one that quote will be on a different page. Duuuuuuuuuurrrrrrr!

My trip to Holland!

I had a really good weekend, but aren't going to completely bore you (i hope) with thousands of different things so I'll just do a summary of everything:

- We arrived there on Friday evening after 3 1/2 hours of sitting in the car (ZZzzzzzzzzzzzz boring boring boring). I really like their house and the area around it it really nice.

- Saturday I got up early and went to Amsterdam with one of my sisters and my uncle (my mum, auntie and other sister went to Den Haag, and following tradition my dad stayed home and did nothing but listen to the cricket on radio 4 and have a nap). Anyway we went to Anne Franks house first so that we didn't have to queue. It was quite interesting and then we had some apple cake thing in a cafe with a drink and went on one of the canal cruises so we pretty much saw everything from there. Because the others were late back from the hague because mum had to stop and look and some wonderful stripy sock (which, yes she did buy for us) and a nice table and some pans or something (what can I say, it's my mother!)

- Sunday we went to my aunt and uncles church in the morning (and had a nice lady to tranlsate for us because I can't speak ANY dutch whatsoever. It was funny cos she only made one proper mistake but it still made me laugh - she said firework instead of fire brigade. It made the sentence sound quite rediculous haha) then we went to the beach at Wasesenaar (spelling?) in the afternoon. We made an awesome sandcastle with tunnels and everything (pictures to follow later) . My uncle thought it would be funny to 'modify' one of the pictures on his computer. He's always playing jokes like that, but all I can say is, I've never seen such a minging picture of me. I made him destroy it (that was after he turned it into a 'Wanted' poster and stuck it on the wall). And then in the evening we went to Scheveningen which is in De Haag to walk along the beach front and pier and stuff, it was a really cool place actually.

- Today we went to this little zoo thing near their house which was good fun cos there were loads of really cute little baby animals, which as you probably know already if you know me or read this blog often, will never fail to impress me. Oh how I love baby animals *sigh*. Oh dear, now I really am a loser. Oh well..... small things please small minds...... Anyway, then we travelled home in the car again. That consisted of: lots of sleep, listening to the Delerious? album about 6 times, and icecream and a kit kat.

So, there you have it, that's what I got up to this weekend. It was very good fun.

Oh, and here's a few conclusions I came to this weekend:
- The dutch love bikes an AWFUL LOT
- They also seem to love drempels aka silly bumps in the road to slow traffic
- There are a LOT of birds in holland (yes, yes I know that's because of all the water). I saw lots of ducks, a squigillion herons, some greebs and a stork (but it didn't have a baby in a cloth hanging from it's beak which was a little disappointing, but it's ok, I got over it eventually)
- My next mission is to visit Paris. every so often I think of a new place that I'm determined to visit. My first was Rome, and I did that, so now I have to go to Africa somewhere and to Paris. I'm utterly determined.
- There's not a lot to see in Amsterdam if you don't ike museums or art galleries.
- Dutch architecture is dreadful. And when I say dreadful, I mean completely and absolutely DREADFUL. Don't get me wrong, many of the houses are really nice inside and the old ones are ok, but most of the new ones I saw were awful. I don't know who thought of the new styles, but most of them look like prisons. Oooh, oooh! That reminds me, we went past the prison that Slobodan Melosevic is in! How exciting!

Hmm ok so this post was slightly longer than I intended, but nevermind, you've had to go the whole weekend without me, I'm sure you don't mind! Night!

OOOOOOOH OHHHHHHH!!!! HO COULD I FORGET? I DON'T HAVE TO GET UP IN THE MORNING FOR MY STUPID JOB BUT YOU ALL HAVE TO GET UP FOR WORK NA NAA NA NAA NAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Mwahahahaa

I lied, I actually have 3 things to say

Valancy Jane is famous. (well more so than she already is). Aaaaaaages ago she wrote a post about me being more random in my life. When I was at my friend Christiana's house I was looking through their yearbook and found that my other friend Duncan had used her quote as one of his all time favourites! So well done VJ, you managed to make it into the Woodhouse Grove Class of 2005 yearbook, you should feel proud!

'Randomness is like a muscle, which must be exercised regularly' ~ Valancy Jane

I have two things to say to you....

I do not suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it

and

Being a failure isn't as easy as it looks.

So there.

Impressive!

Someone recently arrived at my blog after searching for ' I think I am allergic to tomatoes'. I thought it was pretty weird that someone should come here after searching for that, so I typed it into ask.com and I came up 5th on the list out of... wait for it.... 19,000 different results!! How random is that???

........I can't believe I have to wait 4 years until I can get one, I'm dying inside without my puppy, people!!! What can I do??? Just think, my little beautiful westie hasn't even been born yet. Awww. I love my little doggy already. I really do. Really.

What word are you?

passion
You are passion. You wanting and love for something. You feel you need something. You love to dream. Your favorite food is passion fruits.

What word you are?

Thing you didn't know about me #14

While I'm on the subject of United, I thought I'd tell you the next thing that you don't know about me...

My favourite accents in the whole world are (for listening to, not attempting to say myself because I'm hopeless at number 2):

1. Australian
2. Irish (not northern, it gets annoying after a while)

So, when Jamie (my new very nice irish friend) was talking to Jad (from Hillsong United i.e he is australian) the other day when I was with him I had to struggle to stop myself from smiling and giggling uncontrollably like a 13 year old girl.

Sorry I'm really liking photos at the moment so I'm going to keep putting them on my blog until I get bored. This is of United playing last Thursday. I'm in there somewhere and so is Jamie I think, just in case you're interested. Jad is the one on the far right of the stage.

If...

....If every band in the whole world was set to explode and I could only save one, it would have to be Hillsong United. I know there are hundreds of other really good bands out there, that are probably even better musicians, but I would have to save United because they're the best thing since sliced bread.

Hmmmm that can't be good

Someone recently arrived at my blog after searching on google for 'ending my life'. Hopefully my stupidity which is frequently displayed on here cheered them up bit and helped them change their mind...

Amazing Week!! and now I'm back here boo hoo

I had a great birthday and an overall really amazing week! We drove over to Winchester on Saturday and then up to Yorkshire on Sunday (and bumped into some friends in a motorway service station in Oxford, very strange!!). Then, as you all should kn
ow, it was my birthday on Monday. I can't be bothered to go through everything but here's a quick snapshot so you don't feel left out. It involved:

- some really great presents
- I got myself a computer yay
- birthday cake with family
- meal at tgi fridays (and yes, I had to stand on my chair so they could sing 'Happy Birthday' (see pictures below), and yes I did smack my head on the light when I climbed up)
- fun in Leeds with friends
- driving around in the middle of the night listening to lots of music (including disney!!)

They are all the pictures I have cos they are the ones my sister took, Christiana has some other ones so might get them too one day!

My week was really good too. I got my ears pierced yay! I made lots of new friends and had a great time at Rocknations. I don't have any pictures of friends from this week, all I have are these two. (On the top on it's me right in the middle at the bottom but quite small, you can just see my blonde hair and top half of my body someones arm is covering half of me). If you want to see more other pictures then click on the link above)

A couple of things....

a) The room is now tidy(ish). Phew.

b) Something in this house is making me sneeze. I have no idea what it is, but I have sneezed about 20 times this afternoon. It's driving me insane. I'm having to breathe through my mouth because I can't use my nose cause it makes it tickle and my face constantly looks like I've just sucked a lemon because I'm always desperate to sneeze again. I feel like ripping my face off. But then, that would only create more disgusting and horrible problems. Mind you, it'd take my mind off my itchy nose. Hmmm.

c) I've started reading Mansfield Park by Jane Austen (I really have had a Jane Austen theme going this week I think, I've watched Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Emma all in one week, and yes I'm a geek) which cost me 2 euros 50 the other day which I thought was a bargain seeing as it's quite a big book! I might have to go back to that shop because they have loads of really cheap books in english.

d) I hope you all have a nice week and miss me when I am gone, and I hope that you feel amazingly jealous of me (because I'll be having the best birthday ever and you wont).

e) I've sneezed 6 times in the last 30 seconds. Make that 7. Ouch. Ok, I think I'm done now. Oh, no, maybe not. That's a grand total of 8 sneezes in a minute now. I think I'll just go, this is a never ending sneezing fit, I'm sure of it.

Wonderful day...

I went to work this morning and was told that I could leave after 2 hours because there was nothing to do! Great! And I'm going to England next week so I have pretty much a whole extra day of holiday now yay! Even when I do come back 1 Battalion are on leave so there'll be hardly any of the soldiers around! Yippee! But....... Now I have to clean my room because Sarah will be in there whn we come back from the UK.........

....You know when people say that their room looks like a bomb has hit it, they're normally exaggerating. Well, I'm really not - my room looks like a massive bomb full of clothes and junk (and also a sofa) exploded all over my bedroom. I suppose if I clean it up now I wont have mum complaining for the rest of the day.

Oh yes, and I almost forgot - I had a very fun time diving in the ball pool at work this morning. I'm still officially a child so I'm allowed. hehe

What kind of shoe are you??

Note....

Please note how many days there are until my 18th birthday (see above). It's going to be the most wonderful, fun, action packed day (evening) that there ever was. Yippee! I'm expecting presents from all of you, even if I don't know you. Got it?

Real things I've said in the last 48 hours

"My bum isn't a foot warmer, you know?"

Mum: "I wonder what those subtitles are for."
Me: "Blind pe-- Nevermind!!"

"What's your name? Oh yes I know. It has to be 'Sir' because I'm a butler"

*I walk into room and hear...* "Eh-Oh!" *Thought to self: My mother has gone insane.*

"I know! We can watch the dvd and then eat tea. No, I mean eat the dvd and watch tea. *pause* What am I on about? We can eat tea and then watch the dvd. I'm so stupid."

"Eh? That says 'Original cucumber' on it! Haha are they the opposite to some amazing genetically enhanced cucumbers? haha how stupid!" "Er, Becca, it says origin:NL, it's not 'an original'." Oops.

"Ew, someone has mouse on their tire"

Me: "I was talking to someone in my dream last night called Mr Darcy"
Mum: "Was he tall, dark and handsome?"
Me: "Possibly."

Me: *typing title for this post* 'Real things I've said in the last 48 years'. Oops. I mean hours, I'm only 17.

The brain department of my body is on holiday at the moment. I apologise. Normal service will resume shortly.

You're happy, right?

Well, I am. It's now August, and that means.........

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY IN ONE WEEK!!!!

It could happen to you!!

I love that this is posted on the wall in the Quartermasters HQ.

The writing at the bottom says: Every day more and more ginger babies are born, causing distress to mothers and fathers all over the country. With your help, we can put an end to the suffering that these children inlict upon parents, friends and even passers by. Dr. Karl Pullmeov is heading pioneering research into the elimination of the ginger gene. Give generously and help the world become a less ginge place.

Ok, so it's not very nice, but it's funny all the same.

Today's fun at work consisted of...

- kicking Paula Pinecone all the way from the workshops to the church. She is now in the middle of the road ready to be squashed by a car.

- Singing songs whilst cleaning the church.

-Mop fighting.

- My new game, entitled 'Draw' was born. The aim of the game is to make yourself look as stupid as possible. The rules are: One person shouts an object and then shouts 'DRAW' (and pretends to take a gun from their pocket and shoot the other person) and then you have to draw that object in the air using only one finger as fast as you possibly can, including special details. It's an amazing game, you should try it (preferably in public, it has the best effect that way).

- Trying again and again and again to make Gemma watch Pride and Prejudice. She WILL watch it. By the way, if you watch it, it has to be the BBC version, nothing else will do I'm afraid (the one with Jennifer Elhe and Colin firth).

- Gemma repeatedly trying to hold my hand.
