Last Night of the Proms

I don't know why it is, but Americans seem to be very patriotic all year round. However we British spend the whole year drinking tea, eating scones and just being 'British', saving up all the excitement for the Last Night of the Proms. * See bottom. For one evening we get out our flags and head off to the Royal Albert Hall in London in posh frocks and sing our hearts out to classics like Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and Jerusalem, whilst bobbing up and down to the music and generally being quite silly. It was on last night and was overall an enjoyable experience.

*For all you foreigners that don't know what the Proms are, they are lots of concerts that take place in London for 8 weeks of every year. The last night is the most exciting and the one that the bbc show on tv for everyone around the country to see.
